Named for our “Patron Pooches”, Calvin and Susie, animal well-being has always been
our guide and our goal.

Our Story
Our story begins with Calvin & Susie, a locally owned and operated pet supply shop in
Honolulu.
​
In 2010 Calvin & Susie opened its doors on Kapahulu Avenue. Founded primarily to give our pets healthier, more wholesome foods, Calvin & Susie also hoped to make a difference for animals who are less fortunate. We are proud that we were the first pet supply store to sign the Humane Society of the United States’ Puppy Friendly Pet Store Pledge in the State of Hawaii – vowing to never sell animals in the store and to fight puppy mills in our state.
For some time now, we’ve been dreaming of establishing a non-profit. That wish lead to the establishment of Calvin & Susie Hawaii Animal Foundation (CSHAF) in the summer of 2017. But this is just the beginning of our work. Our dream will only truly be realized when the shelters are empty and every pet has a home.
For those of us who devote our time to Calvin & Susie and CSHAF, animals are our
passion and our calling. The people who keep CSHAF running are lawyers, artists,
students, animal rescuers, teachers, writers, business people, parents, surfers – but we
all have one thing in common: the desire to help animals.
For us animal lovers living in Hawaii, this is truly living the “aloha spirit”.
